In my creative explorations, I utilize a combination of hand building and wheel throwing techniques. Most of my work is wheel thrown and altered functional household wares, objects of art that you can use in daily life. Mid-fire range stoneware is glazed by dipping and spraying with my signature turquoise glaze formulation that I spent years perfecting! I solve storage problems, utilizing thoughtful and purpose driven design, with items such as the butter bell, earring hanger bowl, left handed mug, garlic keeper, honey pot, etc.
Additionally, I produce wheel thrown, altered and sculpted fish and crab shaped containers that are made of white earthenware and fired in the low temperature range for color clarity and brightness not found at higher temperatures.
Recently, I have developed ceramic wall art focused on texture and coastal colors. Most are framed in the format of a painting and some objects such as my wallflower platters can be wall hung for decorative purposes in addition to their utility.
