I’m a member of the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts in Hillsborough NC. Through my growth as an artist I have been creating these floating shelves along with bent laminated wall hanging art. As you can see from my web page I also create artistic pieces of furniture. However, for the American Craft Walk I will be focusing on the shelves and wall art. The shelves are created from hand picked single piece of wood having some type of artist characteristic its self. I incorporate a piece of driftwood or some other piece of wood vertically to help support the shelf and give more of an artistic look.
The wall art pieces are created from bent laminate thin pieces of wood and are attached to the wall with magnets. There are rare earth magnets placed within the wood each piece comes with a template of where the magnets are located. The template is them placed on the wall to punch holes where the screws need to go so that the magnets will hold the piece. This gives the customer the continued creativity on how the piece will be displayed!
